The Astronomical Instrumentation Group is involved in a wide variety of research into the nature
and evolution of the Early Universe. Topics of current focus include:
- Observations of Cosmic Microwave Background anisotropy, spectrum, and polarization
- Developing methods and approaches for measuring Dark Energy,
including measurements of Dark Matter using the Weak Lensing technique and
- Observations of high redshift objects at submillimeter wavelengths.
The group is very actively engaged in the development of new
detector technologies, new instruments, and new concepts for future
astrophysics space missions. Members of the Cosmology Group serve
leading roles in the Planck, Herschel, Spitzer, and Juno space missions.
