Curriculum Vitae:

Andreas Colliander

Dr. Andreas Colliander is a Research Scientist in the Water and Carbon Cycles Group of the Science Division. His primary field of research is the development of microwave remote sensing techniques. He is currently mainly focused on NASA’s SMAP (Soil Moisture Active and Passive) mission as a member of the science algorithm development team. His work addresses calibration and validation of the soil moisture and freeze/thaw products of the mission. He is also working on the airborne acquisition of active and passive microwave data in NASA’s CARVE (Carbon in Arctic Reservoirs Vulnerability Experiment) campaign. Additionally, he is funded by NASA to study calibration issues of European Space Agency’s SMOS (Soil Moisture and Ocean Salinity) mission.

Dr. Colliander is a Senior Member of the IEEE, and serves as a co-lead of the Microwave Radiometer Working Group of the IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society.
