Curriculum Vitae:

Nicholas Chapman

Dr. Nicholas Chapman has recently started a postdoctoral position at JPL working with Paul Goldsmith. He is interested in the structure and composition of molecular clouds and cores where stars form. For his thesis he utilized infrared observations from ground-based imaging and the Spitzer Space Telescope to map changes in the obscuration, or extinction, of background stars seen through clouds and cores. The variation in this extinction with wavelength is related to the size and composition of dust grains in the interstellar medium. One of his current interests is comparing the molecular emission from clouds and cores to the mass traced by the dust. He is using CARMA, the Combined Array for Research in Millimeter-wave Astronomy, and the Caltech Submillimeter Observatory.

Dr. Chapman is the PI or Co-I on several current projects and serves as an occasional consultant to the Gould's Belt Spitzer Legacy Science team.
