Education
  • B.S. with Honors, Physics, Stanford University (1986)
  • Ph.D., Physics, University of California, Santa Barbara (1994)

Research Interests
  • Measurements of spatial anisotropy, polarization, and spectral deviations in the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) to understand the geometry and content of the Universe
  • Development of approaches and techniques to measure Dark Energy, which is thought to dominate the energy density of our Universe
  • Development of detector technology and instruments for observational cosmology

Projects

Planck Icon Planck
Planck is the first European mission to study the birth of the Universe. Planck was launched on the 14th of May of 2009.

SNAP Icon SNAP
SNAP is a proposed optical/infrared mission that would detect thousands of Type Ia supernova plus conduct weak-lensing studies.

ARCADE Icon ARCADE
ARCADE (Absolute Radiometer for Cosmology, Astrophysics, and Diffuse Emission) is a high altitude balloon payload designed to study the early universe.
