Michael Seiffert

  • B.S. with Honors, Physics, Stanford University (1986)
  • Ph.D., Physics, University of California, Santa Barbara (1994)

Research Interests
  • Measurements of spatial anisotropy, polarization, and spectral deviations in the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) to understand the geometry and content of the Universe
  • Development of approaches and techniques to measure Dark Energy, which is thought to dominate the energy density of our Universe
  • Development of detector technology and instruments for observational cosmology

ARCADE (Absolute Radiometer for Cosmology, Astrophysics, and Diffuse Emission) is a high altitude balloon payload designed to study the early universe.

Euclid Icon Euclid
Euclid is a mission designed to study "dark energy", the hypothesized cause of the Universe's accelerated expansion.

Planck Icon Planck
Planck is the first European mission to study the birth of the Universe. Planck was launched on May 14, 2009.

WFIRST (Wide Field Infrared Survey Telescope) Icon WFIRST (Wide Field Infrared Survey Telescope)
The Wide-Field Infrared Survey Telescope (WFIRST) is a NASA observatory designed to perform wide-field imaging and surveys of the near infrared (NIR) sky.
