Research Interests
  • Monitoring
    1. volcanic activity (temperature changes, thermal flux, surface composition and volcanic gas emissions) and
    2. volcanic hazards (acid precipitation, lava and pyroclastic flows, land slides, lahars, and plumes) using thermal infrared (ASTER, MASTER and FLIR) and LIDAR data
  • Mapping weathering and alteration minerals related to geothermal and mineral resource exploration, and terrestrial sulfate deposits related to Mars exploration using a combination of hyperspectral and multispectral, VNIR/SWIR and TIR remote sensing data
  • Synthesis of multiple spatial/temporal data sets for 3D/4D analysis and improved visualization, scientific interpretation, and education about geologic environments
