Projects

MLS - Microwave Limb Sounder Icon MLS - Microwave Limb Sounder
The Microwave Limb Sounder (MLS) experiments measure naturally-occurring microwave thermal emission from the limb (edge) of Earth's atmosphere to remotely sense vertical profiles of atmospheric gases, temperature, pressure, and cloud ice.

Professional Experience
  • Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Member of Technical Staff (1979-Present)
    • Developed software for processing data from the Microwave Limb Sounder (MLS) instrument aboard the Earth-orbiting Aura spacecraft. (2000-Present)
    • Developed software for simulating impact dynamics of a projectile against various materials and geometries. (1996-2000)
    • Developed software for predicting the performance of microwave and electromagnetic heating and positioning of materials for processing in space. (1992-1996)
    • Developed software used in predicting sound radiation from submarines, vibrational modes of large space structures, acoustic levitation in processing space materials, the stability of spinning spacecraft with partially-filled fuel tanks, and thermally driven flows in molten drops. (1979-1992)

Selected Awards
  • JPL Spot Award for EOS MLS level 2 software delivery v1.3 (2003)
  • JPL Fire Department: Urban Search and Rescue Reserve Team Certificate of Training (2001)
  • NASA Group Achievement Award, for Small Disadvantaged Business Subcontracting Team (1996)
