Curriculum Vitae:

Steven M Jepsen

Education
  • Ph.D., Engineering-Applied Mechanics, Montana State University, Bozeman, 2005
  • M.S., Physics, Montana State University, Bozeman, 2002
  • B.S., Physics, California State University, Fresno, 2000
  • B.S., Geology, Summa Cum Laude, California State University, Fresno, 1998

Research Interests
I am interested in the dynamics of physical processes as they relate to the near-surface distribution of ice, snow and water supplies. Currently, I am applying computational techniques in energy conservation and remote sensing to understand the effect of climate change on inter-annual spatial and temporal variability of mountain snow melt.

Professional Experience
  • Jet Propulsion Laboratory
    • JPL Postdoctoral Fellow, (2009-present)
    • NASA Postdoctoral Fellow, (2008-2009)
  • Antarctic Field Assistant, Montana State University, (2007)
  • Structural Engineer (Junior), ANVIL Corporation, Montana, (2006-2007)
  • Postdoctoral Research Associate, Montana State University, (2005-2006)
  • Graduate Research Assistant (Ph.D.), Montana State University, (2003-2005)

Selected Awards
  • 2-year fellowship, NASA Postdoctoral Program
  • 1-year fellowship, Montana Space Grant Consortium, Montana State University, Bozeman, 2001
  • Outstanding Physics Student, California State University, Fresno, 1999-2000
  • Graduated Summa Cum Laude, Geology, California State University, Fresno, 1998
  • Scholarships in 1996-1998 from Fresno Gem and Mineral Society, Robert Downing Foundation and American Federation of Mineralogical Societies
