CCAT - Cornell Caltech Atacama Telescope

Cornell University, the California Institute of Technology with its Jet Propusion Lab, the University of Colorado, a Canadian consortium led by the University of British Columbia, and the UK Astronomy Technology Centre on behalf of the UK community, are working to construct a large submillimeter telescope in the high Andes of northern Chile, the CCAT. This facility will be used to address fundamental questions regarding cosmic origins:

  • The origin of galaxies and the early evolution of the Universe,
  • The formation of stars and the evolution of interstellar matter,
  • The histories of planetary systems.
