SIM Lite Icon

SIM Lite

SIM Lite (formerly called the Space Interferometry Mission), currently under development, will determine the positions and distances of stars several hundred times more accurately than any previous program. These data can be used to search for Earth-like planets in their stars' habitable zones as well as providing data related to foundational astrophysics problems ranging from the masses of stars, neutron stars, and black holes to the age of the Milky Way and the nature of dark matter.
