Ahmed Mahjoub

Since I was a child, I was always fascinated in understanding macroscopic natural phenomena by investigating at the microscopic scale. At that time I had no science background, but I had an irresistible desire to look inside materials and see how they are made. This desire led me towards South Paris University where I graduated with a M.S. degree in Physical Chemistry. In 2009, I defended my thesis from the same university in molecular spectroscopy. In 2011, I decided to switch to planetary sciences and applied my skills in spectroscopy to study Titan's atmospheric chemistry.

Research Interests
  • Laboratory astrophysics and astrochemistry: laboratory simulation of physical and chemical properties of solar system icy bodies: (Titan's atmosphere, Titan's lakes, Jupiter Trojans and TNO)
  • Chemical composition and evolution of solar system icy surfaces and atmospheres.
  • Molecular spectroscopy: experimental and theoretical spectroscopy of molecules and ions relevant to astrochemistry: VUV - IR and ab-initio investigations.
  • Organic chemistry and prebiotic chemistry in solar system ices.
