Axel received his B.A. (2014) in Fundamental Physics, and two Master’s, one (2016) in Astronomy, Astrophysics and Space Engineering, and the second (2017) in Teaching Physics and Chemistry from Université Paris-Saclay. He completed his PhD in Astrophysics (2020) at Observatoire de Paris/Université Paris Sciences et Lettres on technology dedicated to Exoplanet Direct Imaging. At JPL, Axel will work on the Decadal Survey Testbed to carry out coronagraph experiments with the primary aim of improving the contrast performance. He will also perform modeling studies to determine the impact of telescope and instrument requirements on the scientific yield of the missions.
