Biography

Maria C. Raguso received the M.S. degree in Communication Engineering and Ph.D. in Radar and Remote Sensing from Sapienza, University of Rome, Italy, in 2014 and 2018 respectively. During this period she joined the LabRadar (DIET), lead by Prof. Giovanni Picardi and Dr. Roberto Seu, where several topics in radar science were pursued, starting from the successful design of Martian radar sounders (MARSIS and SHARAD) to the design of radars for the future exploration of the solar system

From 2015 to 2016 she was visiting research student in the Hayes Research Group at the Department of Astronomy in Cornell University, Ithaca (NY), working on Cassini SAR data processing. In 2018, she joined the Geology and Planetary Science Division at California Institute of Technology (Caltech) as a postdoctoral researcher working on super-resolution techniques and data inversion applied to Cassini radar data.

Currently she is a NASA postdoctoral fellow at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory. Her research explores the study of several data processing techniques oriented to enhance the quality of sounder radar data, estimating and modeling of planetary surfaces to retrieve geophysical parameters. In particular, her research is focused on monitoring of the CO2 seasonal variations at the Martian polar caps using SHARAD data.
