Exoplanet Systems

Members of the Exoplanet Systems Group (3264) work on a wide range of research topics, which include

  • Study exoplanet systems and their host stars.
  • Discovery of new exoplanets
  • Heliophysics
  • Technology development for exoplanet discovery and characterization

Key science questions our group is addressing include:

  • Are we alone?
  • How does the host star or our Sun affect habitability of planets?
  • What are the characteristics of exoplanet systems?

Exoplanet Systems Missions and Projects

The scientific expertise and research activity of the group members include:

  • Observational programs to discover and characterize exoplanetary systems.
  • Theoretical modelling of exoplanet systems
  • Studies of our Sun and its interaction with planets.
  • Studies of host stars of exoplanets and their effect on exoplanets.
  • Development of new technology for high-contrast imaging using Coronagraphy to enable the direct detection of extra-solar planets.
  • Development of new technology for radial velocity and astrometric methods of detection and characterizing extra-solar planets.
