The Venus Emissivity, Radio Science, InSAR, Topography, and Spectroscopy mission (VERITAS)
VERITAS’s objectives are to reveal Venus' geologic evolution, determine what processes are active, and search for the fingerprints of past and present water. The overarching questions are why Venus and Earth diverged and what makes a habitable planet.
VERITAS would produce global, high-resolution topography and imaging of Venus' surface and produce the first maps of surface deformation and global surface rock type. Sue Smrekar of NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California, is the principal investigator. JPL would manage the project.
