ASTER Volcano Archive (AVA)

ASTER Volcano Archive (AVA) Project Logo

This website provides access to volcano image data acquired by ASTER (Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission and Reflection Radiometer) over the life of the Terra mission. The archive is currently comprised of over 200,000 full resolution ASTER infrared volcano images, for 1542 active volcanoes listed in the Smithsonian Global Volcano Catalog, and increases in size every day. The products are provided as downloadable HDF images at 15m/pixel (Visible) to 90 m/pixel (TIR) resolutions, and are available as Google Earth kml overlay files. Currently, the GUI is being upgraded to a more intuitive version, with a greatly expanded list of options with links to other datasets and information sources.
