Yasuhiro Hasegawa is a research scientist at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory. His research is focused on the overlap between exoplanetary and planetary sciences. He develops a number of theoretical modeling of planet formation, and performs a comprehensive investigation of planet formation in star-forming regions, covering a full size range from tiny, micron-mm dust grains to planetesimals and up to fully formed planets. He actively builds up a number of independent and collaborative projects, wherein observations, numerical simulations, theoretical modeling, and lab experiments are all combined to take the best advantage of each approach. In addition, he works on a newly developing area of planet formation in which formation processes that are intimately coupled with disk evolution are statistically examined, through comparison with the extrasolar and solar planetary systems.
