Biography

Mayank's research focuses on unraveling the intricate processes involved in star and planetary formation. By integrating observational data with theoretical frameworks, he seeks to uncover the mechanisms that shape the formation and evolution of planetary systems, as well as their contribution to the rich diversity observed in extrasolar systems. His work examines three critical evolutionary stages of star and planet formation: (i) the protostellar phase, during which protoplanetary disks are formed and the initial physical and chemical conditions for planet formation are established; (ii) the pre-main sequence (PMS) phase, offering insights into planet formation within young (1-3 Myr) protoplanetary disks; and (iii) the exoplanetary systems phase, which represents the culmination of the planet formation process.
