Dr. Erika Podest is a scientist in the Biosphere Group within JPL’s Earth Science Section. Her research focuses on the use of Earth-observing satellites, particularly synthetic aperture radar (SAR) sensors, to monitor wetland ecosystems and vegetation growing season length in the northern high latitudes, with relavance to the global carbon and water cycles.
She serves as the NISAR Community Engagement and Training Coordinator and is also an instructor with NASA’s Applied Remote Sensing Training (ARSET) Program, where she leads trainings on the use of satellite remote sensing data, primarily SAR, to support applications related to water resources and disasters.
