Kevin Gaastra has been a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory since October 2023 where he has worked on predicting the hydrologic component of geodesic signals such as GRACE mass change and GNSS displacements from other observations of the components of terrestrial water storage. Prior to JPL, Kevin received his Bachelors in Geology and Geophysics from the University of California Berkeley in 2016 and his PhD from Rice University in 2022. His thesis focused on methods for determining geologic absolute plate reference frames and reconstructing the history of changes in Earth’s axis of rotation.
