Biography

Dr. Kimberley R. Miner is a scientist, professor, and author focused on Earth system change across ecosystems. Her research expeditions have covered mountains throughout the Northern Hemisphere, above the Arctic Circle, on Mt. Everest, and in Antarctica to observe the risks and impacts of human and natural systems.

Kimberley is a passionate advocate for science communication, and her research has reached audiences globally through speaking events and features in the BBC News, The New York Times, GQ, The Today Show, and through a Guinness World Record.

Her work was the focus of the original musical Earth Data, and she has been featured as a statue in the Smithsonian. She is a National Institutes of Health and AAAS Fellow and works at the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory.

Kimberley’s book, Considering Climate Change, aims to empower younger generations to plan for an ever-changing future. Outside of her scientific endeavors, Kimberley is a Black belt and a certified wilderness firefighter, and she spends her time sailing on the Pacific Ocean.
