Patrick Wang is a Technologist in the Laboratory Studies and Atmospheric Observations Group.
As part of the Lidar Program, Patrick’s work focuses on the development and maintenance of various lidar systems at the Table Mountain Facility (TMF) and the Mauna Loa Observatory (MLO) to investigate long-term atmospheric changes in the troposphere and stratosphere. He leads the efforts in balloon-borne ozonesonde deployment and assists in the analysis of ozone and temperature data obtained from lidar systems. Furthermore, Patrick also acts as JPL Lidar's Systems Rep, JPL Lidar webpage's webmaster, and is the point of contact for chemical/pressure safety, procurements, and property tracking for the Lidar Program.
As part of the Astronomy Program, Patrick develops hardware/software interfaces in Python and C++ for the upgrade of TMF’s 0.6m telescope.
Since 2021, he also leads the efforts in operating an EMI (electromagnetic interference) station with the objective to identify interferences sources, and to obtain a sitewide baseline measurement of EMI levels at TMF.
