Pasadena, CA 91109Arnaud Cerbelaud holds a French Engineering dual degree from both the Ecole Polytechnique and the ENSAE ParisTech (2015). Prior to his current water-related research activities, he worked on a variety of topics, including combinatorial game theory at Columbia University, macroeconometrics at the O.E.C.D, and public finance forecasts at the French Ministry of Economics. He later earned a second MS in Meteorology, Oceanography & Remote Sensing from Sorbonne Université (2020) and recently obtained his PhD in Space and Environmental Sciences from ISAE-Supaéro, Université Toulouse III. During his thesis, he worked on pluvial flood damage detection using various types of satellite imagery to improve flood susceptibility mapping models.
A particular focus is on the combined use of earth observation instruments and empirically- or physics-based hydrological modeling to study the Earth’s surface water dynamics at a global scale.
